At Making Music Matter For Kids Inc., we believe every single child should have the absolute freedom to explore and master their musical talents. We are not your ordinary, passive 501(c)(3) music education foundation—we are a full-scale national movement. While the vast majority of traditional music organizations pump their funding straight into the top of failing public school bureaucracies, our mission is completely decentralized: we provide individual student families with tuition funding and scholarships directly.
Let’s be honest—while some schools have standard music classes, countless kids feel like the music they actually live for is completely ignored or actively looked down upon by outdated school boards. We stand with the outcasts. Whether a child's passion is Metal, Rock, Rap, Punk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Blues, or Classical—we make all music matter. As public school districts continue to slash arts budgets, we are leveraging federal educational tax credit legislation to bypass the red tape and give families universal access to independent music training based on Passion, Not Income.
🎸 Pillar 1: Instrument Procurement & Upcycling
America can’t afford to outsource creativity. We accept musical instrument donations regardless of condition, refurbishing every single piece of gear possible in our local community shop to put real tools into the hands of passionate kids. Equipment damaged completely beyond repair is recycled into art or harvested for spare parts.
🏫 Pillar 2: Rock School SGO Performing Arts Studio
Coming soon to the Jersey Shore! We are launching the region's first SGO - Scholarship Granting Organization, an independent, comprehensive, community-engaged music performing arts studio and live performance venue. This state-of-the-art facility features a volunteer reward strategy for local musicians, business owners, and families across Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic, and Cape May Counties.
