At Making Music Matter For Kids Inc., we believe every child should have the absolute freedom to explore their musical talents. We are not your ordinary 501(c)(3) nonprofit—we are a national movement. While the vast majority of music organizations pump funding straight into the top of failing public school bureaucracies, our mission is completely decentralized: we provide individual student families their own tuition funding directly.
Let’s be honest—while some schools have music programs, countless kids feel like the music they live for is completely ignored or actively looked down upon by school boards. We stand with the outcasts. Whether it's Metal, Rock, Rap, Punk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Blues, or Classical—we make all music matter. As school districts continue to slash arts budgets, we are leveraging the federal Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) to bypass the red tape and give families universal access to independent music training based on Passion, Not Income.
America can’t afford to outsource creativity. We accept instrument donations regardless of condition, refurbishing every piece of gear possible to put real tools into the hands of passionate kids. Equipment damaged beyond repair is recycled into art or harvested for spare parts to fix other instruments in our local community shop.
